Imprisonment and fine for the head of Zakat Committee

The Seventh Judicial Authority of the Minor Crimes Court decided to imprison the head of the Zakat Committee for 7 years with temporary hard labor and fine him 416 thousand dinars on charges of forgery and credit abuse.

The court said that its decision is appealable, headed by Judge Muhammad Al-Manasra, with Judge Muhammad Al-Tarawneh as a member, and in the presence of the Public Prosecutor of Integrity and Anti-Corruption, Judge Muawiyah Al-Saaida. Al Rai newspaper, reported.

In detail, an employee of the Ministry of Awqaf noticed while collecting donations from a mosque that donations were being collected without receipt documents and illegally by the concerned head of zakat committee.

At the request of an employee of the Ministry of Awqaf from a committee formed by the Ministry to audit and investigate the receivables, deposit process and their permits.

As a result, it was established that there was manipulating in the process of collecting donations and disbursing receivables and the mechanism for granting Mosque Imam a copy of the receivables after counting the donations. 

The case was referred to the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission.
