JIACC, SDC sign a Memorandum of Understanding

A memorandum of understanding was concluded between the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Securities Depository Center aimed at framing, coordinating and strengthening technical cooperation between the two parties. Especially in areas of promoting the values of Integrity, awareness raising, prevention against the risks of corruption, and promoting the principles of transparency and good governance in-line with the laws governing their responsibilities and duties.

The MoU, signed by Vice-Chairman of the Commission, Sami Al-Salaita, and the Executive Director of the Securities Depository Center, Sara Al-Tarawneh.

Its objective is to organize and adopt a technical mechanism to request the information required by the Commission for the purposes of implementing its functional and investigative tasks, duties, and powers entrusted to it under the provisions of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law.

Whereas the response by the Center is immediate and electronic by relying on a dedicated technical mechanism to that end that is developed in the context of digital transformation systems and thus contributes briefly to the time and effort needed to obtain that information and to ensure that it is kept confidential.

The memorandum further provided for the Commission’s access to some of the information stored at the Center on the ownership of securities registered in the name of any person or any entity suspected of corruption and those mandated by the provisions of the legislation in force, including the Illicit Gain Law.

The signing ceremony was attended by members of the Commission’s Board, it’s Secretary-General, directors of relevant departments, advisors and experts from both sides.
