Zarqa Municipality commitment to the National Integrity Indicator

Zarqa Municipality sent a report stating that it is continues to cooperate with the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission by taking oversight measures and adhering to National Integrity Standards during 2022/2023, this led to achieving financial savings worth 28 million and 155 thousand dinars.

The Municipality attached to its report a list of procedures taken by, including the electronic fingerprint system, which resulted in the termination of 210 employees who did not commit to working hours, emphasizing in its report that the National Integrity Indicator is a road map for protecting public funds and the state’s capacities. 

The Municipality is taking other actions including forming appraisal committees with communication devices with the appropriate department in the municipality, they are also enforcing a precautionary seizure of the funds of taxpayers who are not willing to pay their obligations, evacuating several buildings rented by the municipality and repairing their buildings, and collecting revenues and late fines for planning, building, and paving taxes.

The report provided clarification on the overall amounts saved, which came to a value of 3 million and 334 thousand dinars, as opposed to wasting them. The amount of money recovered as a result of the operations was valued at 24 million and 821 thousand dinars.

JIAAC commended the municipality, for its actions and expressed the hope that other municipalities around Jordan will take their lead from the Zarqa municipality.
